We had a wonderful day at Otamure Bay on Monday for our Whananaki Community Snorkel Day. By the end of the day 142 participants got to experience the beautiful reef with our 15 volunteers and crew. We had a great turnout from all of our volunteers, who did huge mahi to get you in the water. A special shoutout to our taitamariki volunteers, many of which graduated to senior guide status on the day, who briefed, instructed and guided multiple groups on their own for the first time.

We had such awesome feedback from our participants about their guides, coming back from their snorkel with huge smiles on their faces. We received a significant amount in donations and your generosity is greatly appreciated.

A big thank you to our event sponsors Water Safety New Zealand, Northland Regional Council and Te Whana o te Nanakia Trust (Whananaki CLD) for supporting our kaupapa and bringing this event to life! It is through these events that we are able to spread the water safety message and engage communities with the moana. And thank you to the representatives from Te Whānau Whero who came down to awhi with your awesome taitamariki snorkel guides.
