Spotty - Paketi, Pakirikiri
Notolabrus celidotus

Spotties, endemic to New Zealand, are found around rocky reefs and estuaries. Females sport large, round spots on each side, while males have smaller spots near their dorsal fin. All spotties start life as female, with the largest female transitioning to male when the group’s male dies. Males are territorial, defending their harem of females. Spotties are active hunters, feeding on benthic organisms like crustaceans and worms using their forward-jutting teeth to scrape food off the seabed. They can live up to 7 years.
