Yellowfin Kingfish - Haku

Seriola lalandi lalandi

Yellowtail kingfish, found in southern hemisphere’s warm-temperate waters, can grow up to 1.7m and weigh 56kg. Known for their bright yellow fins and golden-brown stripe, they are fast-swimming hunters, feeding on small fish like trevally and garfish. A traditional food for Māori, kingfish are prized in recreational fishing. Their streamlined body and camouflage make them nearly invisible from above or below, blending perfectly with the ocean’s light and dark patterns. These fish are often seen hunting in shallow bays, harbors, and estuaries.
