Great White Shark - Mangō Taniwha

Carcharodon carcharias

New Zealand is a global hotspot for white sharks, iconic apex predators protected since 2007. These long-distance migrants roam the world’s oceans, playing a key role in controlling prey populations. Males reach 5.5m, females 7m, and their large size allows them to hunt marine mammals. Threats include incidental catch, trophy hunting, and prey species decline. Protected under the Wildlife Act 1953, it's illegal to harm great whites in New Zealand's waters.
