About Fish of the Year
Te Ika o Te Tau
Fish of the Year is Aotearoa New Zealand’s annual celebration of our weird, wonderful, and often overlooked marine life.
Run each year to spotlight native fish species and the pressures they face, the competition invites the public to learn, vote, and advocate for fish that don’t usually get the hype — but absolutely deserve it.
